The University of Kansas Health System logoThe University of Kansas Hospital is the region's premier academic medical center, providing a full range of care. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Kansas Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health, and their various leading-edge research projects. While consistently growing, the hospital contains 555 staffed beds and serves more than 21,000 inpatients, 270,000 outpatients and 41,000 Emergency Department patients annually.

At The University of Kansas Hospital, patients have access to the latest medical technology, new facilities that support the healing process, and an experienced and highly trained staff.

Our physician specialists are recognized leaders in treating the most challenging illnesses and injuries while achieving outstanding patient outcomes. Our nurses and other caregivers are known for delivering expert, attentive and compassionate patient care. Members of our support staff provide essential services that create a pleasant and inviting atmosphere for patients and their families.

Our comprehensive heart program and Emergency Department are housed in the state-of-the-art Center for Advanced Heart Care. This 238,000-square-foot heart facility houses more than 100 beds for inpatient and outpatient procedures.

Our cardiologists and cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeons are regional and national leaders in developing innovative approaches for preventing, diagnosing and treating all types of heart and vascular conditions.

Our cancer program received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer in 2004 and again in 2007. Ours is the only teaching hospital cancer program in the Kansas City area to qualify two consecutive periods.

The program is based in the region's largest outpatient cancer facility, the University of Kansas Cancer Center and Medical Pavilion, located in Westwood, Kansas, 1½ miles from the main hospital. The three-level, 55,000-square-foot Cancer Center provides patients with excellent care and comfort in a convenient, centralized location. Each floor has been carefully planned to accommodate the needs of patients and their families.
